Wilderness School Institute!

We have a lot going on here--from book publishing in several venues--to various student outreaches and community events. This site is hosted by our founders, the Captain and Lilly Maytree (more about them, later), who are dedicated to bringing more hope and heroes to today's young people. So feel free to explore and find out more about who we are and what our mission is.

Currently...
The Captain and Lilly are still in Thorne Bay, publishing books, finishing up restorations on the Glory B, and getting ready for the first  Summers Island Press Adventure Book Tours ​since the start of the pandemic. These are multi-author events that include book signings, workshops, author adventures and sometimes even a Cousin Summers Traveling Show. This year they will be in Alaska and Florida.

Watch the website for a detailed schedule of events that will be announced as they come up. Until then, you can get in touch with us via the contact form on this website. It might take a few days to reply if we are out adventuring, but we always come back sooner or later.

Fall is here!

  Kids are going back to school and so are we! This year, we are finding more ways to share our adventures  with homeschoolers and "virtual travelers" by starting a new video blog called Island Time. It will be a place to meet and interact with our Summers Island Press team while they are on their "Author Adventure Tours."  

   Summers Island Press and Lightsmith Publishers are offering steep discounts online when you order from our websites. Oh, yes, and all our children's ebooks are FREE during holidays, so, watch for those.
