Book Clubs and Events
FIRST READERS CLUB ($5-$24)
All donations of $5 and above will receive: Choice of 2 free ebooks from the titles on our list, your name on our website donor page, a membership card, and a subscription to our Quarterly Publishing Newsletter where you will get sneak peeks of upcoming releases, special discounts not available from our catalog, a feature article by one of our authors, and contest opportunities. AVID READER CLUB ($25) All benefits from the First Readers Club, as well as a SIP Bookmark and Wilderness Activity Calendar, along with a Virtual Pass to our monthly Online Book Club that includes free ebooks to those who participate. EVENTS($10-$650: children 12 and under Free, family discounts available). All proceeds go to the Wilderness School Institute non-profit organization to accomplish their mission of bringing more hope and heroes to the children's entertainment industry. Prices for tickets and passes vary according to location of event and duration. Main events include the Cousin Summers Traveling Show (entrance to the Curiosity Exhibit is $5 and children are Free); Book Launch Parties are held in "mysteriously different places," where readers will be able to meet and visit with the authors. ($20 includes finger food, an autographed copy of the book, and a photo with the author); Holiday Authors Retreat is a three-day working retreat to launch the holiday season that is held in a different location each year. ($500 includes room, meals, workshops, preview of new book trailers, and discount for gifts that will be included in the new holiday catalog for that year); Survival Skills Retreat is a three-day event held in a wilderness lodge setting. ($500-$750 for families); Our community youth outreach program The Great Race, hosted by Wilderness School Institute staff in your own community. ($650 Includes the event itself--for up to six teams of 5-8 members--as well as The Great Race manual so that youth groups may host the event themselves, as many times as they wish. Also includes unlimited consultations with staff by email or phone to help with future races. Yearly discount passes available for multiple events. Adopt A Book Program ($50-$5,000)
(levels based on media and version—ebook, hardback, paperback, audio, etc.)
eBook ($50) You will receive all of the Avid Reader benefits, as well as your name mentioned in the acknowledgement section of the published eBook, a gift copy of the eBook when it is released, and a special invitation to be a guest on the author's website. eBook costs include: formatting and distributor set-up fees, cover design, and editing expenses. These are higher if illustrations are included. Paperback ($100) You will receive all of the Avid Reader and eBook benefits, as well as an autographed gift copy of the book from the author. Hardback ($150) You will receive all of the Avid Reader and eBook benefits, as well as an autographed gift copy of the book from the author. Audio Book ($1,000-$2,500) Please contact Ann @ SummersIslandPress.com for specifics on audio books. You will receive all of the Avid Reader and eBook benefits, as well as a copy of the audio book at its completion, along with copies of all other versions available, including the benefits associated with each of them. You will also be invited to be a special guest at the book launch party—where you will be able to meet and talk with the author and voice over artist* (*unless they are outside the continental US, in which case they will be there via Skype). Audio Book costs include: anywhere from $1,000 to $2,500, depending on the length of the book, the talent of the voice over artist, and the amount of music and sound effects included in the contract. Also includes script creation and sound mixing. |

Media Team Member ($500-$5,000)
(based on Media projects, book trailers, podcasts, traveling show, events, etc.)

All media projects include the cost of: hiring industry professionals and often necessary travel and accommodation expenses. Depending on the availability of film clips, use rights, or the need for original videography—along with final editing costs—these prices can vary greatly depending on the project. If animations are involved, time and expenses are multiplied. Media Team Members may pick and choose any of these projects or activities they would like to be involved with.
